I was so pumped up about this trip at the same time a bit worried. Excited because this will be a reunion trip with my two cousins (as planned, we will have a yearly adventure, thus #R3RAdventure was born). A bit worried because a week before the trip, a typhoon was gearing up the Northern part of the country and somewhere in Palawan, and the Western Visayas provinces, an LPA was brewing. True enough we were able to fly to Bacolod and just when we land, heavy rain poured. We arrived Thursday late afternoon and the weather wasn’t good, so we need to stay at the hostel until Friday and work a bit. Our main activities will be on Saturday and Sunday, as we still need to wait for Bill who’s flying from Manila to Bacolod early morning of Saturday, October 21st, 2017. So, here goes our Bacolod (The City of Smiles) adventure!

What We Love about the Place
- The Ambiance
The ambiance is so homey and cozy, you’ll love staying here. Their lounge area is one of the best place to “tambay” as it has enough space for Guest.
- The Lounge
I love the interior designs of their lounge area. At one point we end up camping in their lounge area whenever we’re not on the road.
- The Internet
FYI. Their rooms have no internet connection, but they do have in their reception area and the lounge area at the second floor. I was able to sneak in a few hours of work, so their internet connection is good.
- The Accessibility
Pretty much almost at the heart of the city. It’s accessible to the places such as Convenient store, Laundry house, Boutiques, Money Padala, Bank Atm’s, and of course Jollibee and McDonalds. hahaha
- The Bacolod Warmth
This is what I loved most in my stay here. The Hostelry got the best staff! In many of my travels, I’d always prefer warmth and comfort over high-tech or modern facilities or amenities.
I wish they have Pantry area or maybe a water dispenser section where guest can get a water, maybe in the lounge area or somewhere. That would be a great thing to add, but over all we are very satisfied with our stay.

WHERE TO EAT?
1. Roli’s Café
If you want to taste the classic Bacolod taste, this is the place for you. Luckily, Roli’s Cafe is right at the ground floor of The Hostelry (I think they have the same owner). It’s a must for you to try their classic Napoleones. It’s a sin not to, when you’re in Bacolod.
2. Sharyn’s Cansi House
They are known for their world class beef soup. Cansi (Kansi) is a traditional food in Negros province. They’re serving food since 1985.
3. Aida’s Chicken – Manokan Country
Bacolod is known for their Inasal recipe, and it is a must to taste their Chicken Inasal. They have an area near SM Mall which is called Manokan Country. You can choose among the stalls there. We asked Manong driver to bring us to Manokan Country and he recommended Aida’s Chicken. So we tried it, and definitely a must place to eat when you’re in Bacolod.
